What are common challenges with brains that need interest to start?

Waiting to begin boring tasks Feeling stuck when things aren't exciting Struggling with routines

What can I try to help with brains that need interest to start?

Turn boring tasks into a game: set a timer for 10 minutes and race yourself to get as much done as possible. The urgency and competition (even against yourself) creates the stimulation your brain needs. Pair every boring task with something enjoyable: listen to a podcast while tidying, play music while doing maths, chew gum while reading. The enjoyable thing provides the dopamine your brain needs to stay engaged. Use "body doubling" — do the boring task while someone else is in the room doing their own thing. You can also join virtual coworking sessions online. The social presence creates gentle accountability that helps your brain engage. If a task feels impossible, ask yourself: "What tiny piece of this is slightly interesting to me?" Start with that piece. Once you are in motion, it is easier to do the rest.
